A Special Place
Referred to as a haven of peace and beauty within a park-like setting, Maple Grove Cemetery is a gracious, historic 65-acre rural cemetery. It is conveniently located off Queens Boulevard and the Van Wyck Expressway in Kew Gardens, an urban village-like neighborhood in the borough of Queens, New York City. It is an active, non-sectarian progressive cemetery with an enduring reputation for providing caring, sensitive services and thoughtful options to honor loved ones.
The beautiful grounds make Maple Grove Cemetery an exceptional place. As a rural cemetery the landscape includes gentle rolling hills, several gardens, a lake, a labyrinth and a magnificent collection of trees, shrubbery and flowers that make it a beautiful kaleidoscope throughout the four seasons. This pastoral space that is Maple Grove provides dignified resting places for those who repose here and a place of serenity and comfort to those who visit.
While having an impressive history, Maple Grove Cemetery anticipates the future. Old traditions of burial have been harmoniously blended with contemporary alternatives for interment. In addition to conventional in-ground and crypt burials there are provisions for the interment of ashes: in ground, above ground and indoors.
Established in 1875, Maple Grove continues to serve as an integral part of evolving Queens communities; not only as a final resting place for loved ones, but also as a place to celebrate lives passed and to be a cultural resource for families and visitors. The Center is a contemporary building flexibly designed to serve the needs of our families through phases of life’s transitions. It is also a familiar community center where The Friends of Maple Grove, a non-profit, membership organization whose mission is to increase public awareness of Maple Grove's historical, horticultural and cultural resources, hosts events for the general public appropriate for all ages.
Maple Grove Cemetery Association, which was organized in 1875, operates the not-for-profit, non-sectarian cemetery.
